History

Early history

Henry has always been fasinated with the idea of creating worlds that others could explore and experience. Starting off with world creation on pen and paper at a young age, it was only a matter of time that this interest interested into game development. Henry started off making games using RPG Maker 2000, and eventually started to program his own game using his own engines. Several of these earlier custom engine games could be considered the predecessor to Aether Story. The goal of creating an MMORPG has been Henry's passion for over 15 years. Having gone to University and studying Databases, Henry mixed both of his passions to create an MMORPG.

After that

In 2010 Henry and Mark teamed up to create a pixel MMORPG, where Henry would be doing the programming and Mark would write the story. Together they started forming ideas of a world and universe under the working title of RpgLegend. During this time RpgLegend's story was overhauled and rewritten, but with each rewrite the world's lore and history was expanded and grew. While the story was being created, the game's engine was also being prototyped. With each rewrite of the game's engine, more and more features were made possible and the limits were pushed.

Present

In 2017 the project was reborn, and rewritten for the final time. With this overhaul we also renamed the project from RpgLegend to Aether Story. This change marked more than just a new name, it also marked a change in our goals. We started to work toward the actual game's content and features. We began to release Alphas that allowed players to test core features, explore the starting zones of our world, and get a much better idea of what we were trying to achieve. And today we continue to work on core features with new major Alpha releases at least once a quarter. Eventually we will have all the core features in the game and we will move to an official release. Stay tuned.
